A. The Syrian Association for Rheumatology (SAR), like many specialized medical associations, is under the umbrella of the Syrian Medical Association.
B. The Ministry of Health supports SAR in many ways:
- S.A.R conducts most of the congresses and symposia under the patronage of the Ministry of Health.
- The Ministry of Health consults SAR regarding the registration of new anti-rheumatic treatments and drugs.
- Teaching courses are jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and SAR for continuing medical education.
C. SAR is affiliated to the Pan Arab Rheumatological Society, and to Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR). The next APLAR congress will take place in Damascus in 2012.
